1. Policy Statement

2. Objectives

  • To prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health by identifying potential hazards and implementing effective control measures.
  • To provide clear instructions, information, and adequate training to ensure employees and learners are competent in their roles.
  • To engage and consult with employees on health and safety matters, encouraging open communication and feedback.
  • To maintain safe and healthy working conditions, including safe systems of work, proper maintenance of equipment, and promotion of good housekeeping practices.
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.

3. Responsibilities

  • Management Responsibilities: Ensure health and safety policies are implemented effectively, provide necessary resources, regularly review safety practices, and lead by example in promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Employee Responsibilities: Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others, cooperate with management, follow safety procedures, and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe practices promptly.
  • Learner Responsibilities: Follow health and safety instructions, use provided equipment safely, actively participate in safety training, and report any concerns immediately.

4. Risk Assessment and Management

  • Regular risk assessments will be conducted to identify potential hazards in the workplace and learning environments.
  • Control measures will be implemented to minimize risks, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) where necessary.
  • Risk assessments will be reviewed periodically, following significant changes to operations, or in response to incidents.
  • Employees and learners will be involved in the risk assessment process to ensure comprehensive hazard identification.

5. Training and Competency

  • All employees will receive health and safety induction training upon joining the organization.
  • Additional training will be provided as needed to address specific risks, changes in procedures, or new legal requirements.
  • Records of all training will be maintained and regularly reviewed to ensure ongoing competency.
  • Refresher training will be conducted periodically to reinforce health and safety knowledge and practices.

6. Emergency Procedures

  • Clear emergency procedures, including evacuation plans, fire safety protocols, and first aid arrangements, will be established and communicated.
